I don’t need your wrong numbers.

It’s been more than a month and God-knows how many resumes and applications since I started looking for a job. I got a call today from Diane at H&R block and about lost my shit, until she said, “Dylan, all we need you to do is finish one more form and we can file your return”. It was a wrong number. And then I remembered I didn’t apply there because they have paid training.

Aside from that, here’s the score so far: zero interviews, two “we got your resume” canned responses, and one complete rejection. For an 8.00-an-hour, part time warehouse peon job. I can’t even get a job I’m qualified and experienced in for an any-warm-body-will-do position. It’s excruciating. Considering the massive net I’m spreading, I’ve come across no more than 5 jobs I was actually interested in doing. I know that doesn’t mean anything to start with (I’ve lucked into unexpected jobs that were perfect, at least for a while), and I know that means less the more desperate this gets. But it’s getting close to having to sell everything I own.

I'm a painter, a drummer, a student, and currently unemployed. I also appreciate cats and a bit of light debauchery, but not at the same time or for the same reasons.
