Is Obama a failure as president?
The left says yes because he hasn’t fixed the leftovers from the Bush administration. We’re still fighting nebulous and elusive enemies overseas. There are murmurs of toture operations. Economy? Looking up-ish, perhaps, but clearly not fast enough.
The right says yes because we’re lacking Bin Laden’s head on a platter, and we’re too soft on “freedom’s enemies”. And they didn’t want universal health care. He’s undermined and softened all the Bush operations. And he said ‘taxes’.
I’ll leave out the “he’s a black foreigner muslim grandma killer who eats babies” because that’s crackpot bullshit, and I’m not so liberal that I think all right-leaning people are that stupid.
I don’t know that he’s a failure. Much of our current situation resonates from the last administration, and we can just as easily say that shit stemmed from the Clinton era. Or the Reagan era. Or whatever.
My point is that we can bitch and moan about everything being wrong because of Obama, or partisanship, or anything else, but at the end of the day it’s us. It’s our fault. I don’t just mean that we elected the “wrong people”, whoever that may be to you. I mean that we share some of the responsibility for our culture, our government, and our society, and we might as well stop blaming anyone and start helping however we can.
Or to put it another way:
It’s not their problem, it’s our problem.
