ugh. sick. zombies.

I dislike many, many things about Kentucky.  But I fucking loathe the weather, at least in central KY.

For the last 18 years I’ve lived on a small patch of forecast oddity.  It’s a natural weather front.  The shape of the land and the wind currents cause the weather to shift very quickly, especially the pressure and humidity.  Two or three times a year it’s drastic enough that I get sick, usually with a sinus infections.

It’s also ranked one of the worst areas for allergy sufferers.

We rarely get thunderstorms (though this year we’ve had a number), although we’re prone to rain.  Not pleasant, consistent rain, but more like two weeks of rain and then a month of drought.

There is no fall here, or spring.  We get maybe a week of fall temperatures and colored leaves before it’s suddenly on winter-rain and cold.  Same with spring; one week of pleasantness, two of raging pressure changes and humidity, and then it’s hot for six months.

Anyhow, we just went through two weeks of heat wave culminating in a clusterfuck of torrential downpours mixed with “imminent rain that never quite falls till it’s somewhere past us”.  So at the moment I’m struggling not to develop a sinus infection, nor fall asleep over a third of a bottle of cough syrup .  And my AC is out.  It’s just dead.  Maintenance was called this morning; apparently it requires an actual H-VAC individual to show up tomorrow morning.  I suppose things could be worse…. but they could certainly be better.

I'm a painter, a drummer, a student, and currently unemployed. I also appreciate cats and a bit of light debauchery, but not at the same time or for the same reasons.
